Dear Braddock Friends and Families,
Annual Giving, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is going on now! We want to raise $22,000 so give now!
Thanks to direct donations from parents like you, we’re able to fund field trips, a teacher’s aide, educational enrichment like Scholastic News and Time for Kids, technology in the classroom, and more. We hope every family is able to contribute – no amount is too small, as we strive for 100% participation among all Braddock Magnet families.

How to Contribute:
1. Give what you can! No amount is too small, every dollar helps us! Our suggested donation is $1,000 per family.
2. You may send a check made payable to “Friends of Braddock” in your child’s homework folder. Please label the envelope “Annual Giving” and indicate your child’s name and grade.
3. Donate via the PayPal link on our website: https://www.braddockgiftedmagnet.org. Click on the PayPal link on the right side of the home page and please indicate your child’s name and grade in the optional “note” box.

Tours of Braddock Gifted/Highly Gifted/High Ability Magnet for the 2018-2019 school year will be held on:

Tours begin at 8:30 AM in the Magnet Office (Room 13) and end around 10 AM. Prospective parents do not need to RSVP.
Berkshire Hathaway Home Services generously donated $1500 to Friends of Braddock through The Charitable Foundation! The agents who sponsored the donation request were Dan and Charlee Nessel. A big thank you to Dan, Charlee and Berkshire Hathaway for this donation which will be used to bring additional learning opportunities to our students.
1. Back To School Night is this week on Wednesday, Sept. 6th from 4:30-6 pm.
4:30-5:00: General session in the auditorium
5:00-5:30: Classroom presentations by teachers, 1st rotation
5:30-6:00: Classroom presentations by teachers, 2nd rotation
Stop by the Friends of Braddock info table in the breezeway near the Magnet classrooms to meet some parents, get info on Magnet activities, and share your ideas and suggestions.
2. First Friends of Braddock (FOB) meeting this week, Friday Sept. 8 from 8-9 am at the Parent Center at school.
At our first meeting of the school year we review this year’s budget including field trips, teachers’ needs, and other activities. We decide on fundraisers and sign up to help out with these and other events. We also talk about any school or curriculum-related questions that parents bring to the meeting, and get to know each other better. 3. Annual Giving Starts Soon!
This is the most important fundraiser of the whole year for our school. We ask for donation of $1,000 per family or whatever your budget allows. We know you want the things that help our students to thrive – field trips, classroom technology, a teacher’s aide to free up our teachers to do all the exciting extras that they do, and books books books! Plus so much more.
You’ll receive a flier in your child’s backpack and emails with links for giving online, in the next week. You can also drop off your donation OR pay instantly by credit card at the FOB info table on Back to School night. Thank you!
For new volunteers:
There is a background check for the school volunteer program. If you have a TB test result on file for LAUSD within the 2017 calendar year, Ms. Granados will accept it, otherwise a new TB test is required.
For parents who submit their paperwork early in the school year, the approval timeframe can be as short as 7-10 days. Later in the school year, it can take 4-8 weeks on average. If you are keen for in-class volunteering, please submit your paperwork as soon as you can.
All submitted paperwork should include your child’s name and homeroom #.

Those with volunteer badges do not have to resubmit paperwork, but they need to fill out this form for returning volunteers.
