Congratulations to Miss Hart’s amazing third grade class, who were the overall winners in the Sumdog Math Contest for LAUSD West! In addition, the top three individual scoring students from LAUSD West were all in Miss Hart’s class as well. We are so proud of the hard work put in by our students!

Annual Giving, our biggest fundraiser of the year, is going on now! Thanks to direct donations from parents like you, we’re able to fund a teacher’s aide, educational enrichment like Scholastic News, Time for Kids, and Excel Math, technology in the classroom, field trips, and more. We hope every family is able to contribute – no amount is too small, as we strive for 100% participation among all Braddock Magnet families.
Our children spend almost 1000 hours in their classrooms each year! During that time we parents contribute our suggestions, time, and funds to help make a difference in their day. If you gave $2.75 each school day, less than some people spend on a daily coffee, it would add up to $500 over the course of the school year, making a BIG impact on your kid’s classroom. If everyone makes a contribution now, or commits to donating throughout the year, we will continue to fund all the “extras” our kids get now, and aim for even more.
Thanks to those who already made generous contributions, we’re off to a great start, already reaching 25% of our goal of $30,000! If you haven’t yet contributed, there are 3 easy ways to make your tax deductible donation now:
1. You may send a check made payable to “Friends of Braddock” in your child’s homework folder. Please label the envelope “Annual Giving” and indicate your child’s name and grade.
2. Donate via the PayPal link: right here or on the right side of the home page. Please indicate your child’s name and grade in the optional “note” box.
3. To pay via credit card at school, meet Beth Sampson, Friday, September 23rd, at the Magnet Gate on Braddock, at 2:25, and she can swipe your card.
Please join us for the next Friends of Braddock meeting on October 14 at 8:10 am in the parent center.
Check out this LA Times article: These magnets have become some of L.A.’s highest-scoring public schools. 87% of Braddock Gifted Magnet students met or exceeded standards in math; 92% in English — outstanding performance!
