Please stop in and take a look at the Scholastic Book Fair! It’s open to the community between 8:30 and 1:30, Wednesday through Friday. Wednesday through Friday are also minimum days (12:40 dismissal) so there should be plenty of time to make your purchases!
Thank you to all our families for your tremendous support during Annual Giving! We exceeded our fundraising goal and increased the rate of participation among families in the school, and couldn’t have done it without you!
Here are some upcoming fundraising events. Your contribution will help us keep the great programs we’re used to for our students and teachers, such as technology in the classroom, teacher’s aide, educational enrichment materials, and more.
Up next is the Disneyland Raffle. Raffle tickets are only $1, so this is a great way to seek support from friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, etc. with one lucky winner getting 4 Disneyland/California Adventure Park Hopper tickets (over a $600 value)! More details next week.
Over Winter Break, our Annual Read-A-Thon will take place. This is a great opportunity for all the voracious readers in our student population to feel as though they are directly impacting the school, by reading for a cause. Seeking pledges from friends and family, students raise money by reading as much as they can, while being sponsored per page read or for a flat donation. With the highest fundraiser in each grade winning a $25 Barnes and Nobles gift card, and any students raising over $100 getting their name in a raffle for a Kindle Paperwhite, there’s lots of motivation to keep reading over winter break. More details in December.
Our Online Auction will take place in March, and it’s never too early to start seeking donations. Especially as you’re out shopping for the holidays, keeping a few solicitation forms handy to request a donation is an easy way to contribute to the school. We hope each family can secure at least two donations, (gift cards work great!), to increase the quantity and value of items in the auction. If you have a connection to show tapings, sporting events, hotels, etc. those are highly sought after items that would be a huge asset to the auction. Hard copies of these forms, and solicitation request letters to come home soon, but you can click here to download the form in case you want to get started now. I can’t tell you how many local businesses are more than happy to contribute, as they know the goodwill it buys with you, their customers, as well as the free publicity among our school families and others across the country who use the Bidding for Good website (where our auction occurs). Donations are tax deductible as well!
Parties for a Cause
New this year, Friends of Braddock is launching parties for a cause! This is a great way to have fun, meet other Braddock families, and benefit the school. Here’s how it works: you can participate by attending an event sponsored by another Braddock family and/or host an event yourself. By attending, you agree to make a donation (which will range in amount based on the activity) that goes directly to Friends of Braddock. The host family or families agree to host the event as a donation to Friends of Braddock, so fun is had by all, while money is raised for Friends of Braddock. Click here to learn more!
As always, we appreciate your time, and hope you can contribute in a way that best suits you and your family. Our next Friends of Braddock meeting is Friday, December 4th, at 8:06am. Thanks again for your continued support!
